FAQ Iron-on Transfers
How to properly apply an iron-on patch to clothing?
An iron-on transfer is applied to fabric with heat.
The garment is laid flat on a firm surface. Then, the iron-on transfer is covered with baking paper or transfer film and ironed or pressed with pressure for about 10–15 seconds.
After cooling, the film is carefully peeled off.
What fabrics do iron-on patches stick to?
Iron-on images adhere particularly well to:
- Jersey
- Rib Jersey
- French Terry
- Cotton
- Sweat
A smooth fabric surface is important for the motif to bond well.
Can iron-on transfers also be used on children's clothing?
Yes. Iron-on patches are very suitable for baby and children's clothing.
They are frequently used for:
- Shirts
- Sweaters
- Harem pants
- Sleepsuits
- Bags or backpacks
They allow you to personalize self-sewn garments.
How long do iron-on transfers last on clothes?
If the iron-on transfer has been applied correctly, it will withstand many washes.
Recommendations:
- Wash inside out
- Maximum 30–40 °C
- Do not tumble dry
This will keep the design looking good for a long time.
Can iron-on patches be applied to already sewn clothing?
Yes. Iron-on patches are perfect for embellishing finished clothes or covering small stains. Many DIY sewers use them to personalize simple shirts or sweaters.
Can iron-on transfers be removed?
Iron-on patches are intended to be permanent.
They are difficult to remove completely. In some cases, heat can help to loosen the adhesive, but residues may remain in the fabric.
